Hello, everyone! While building this blog, I’ve tried to maintain a diverse amount of web dev content. That way, everyone has something they could find interesting. But for summer 2024, my focus will be quite a bit more narrow.

Building a Website for the Scouts

First, I’ll be creating a website for my kids’ Scouts group. This project presents a fantastic opportunity to use my skills for a good cause. (Plus, it completes one of my wife’s Wood Badge ticket items!)

The main goal is to build an informative website that helps inform new families about out pack. There’s also talk of building a “leaders only” area to build a repository of knowledge for future leaders, but so far no details have been made.

The initial prototype (below) has been completed and I’ll be meeting with leaders soon to discuss details. Over the coming weeks, I’ll be guiding you through the entire website development process with a series of detailed blog posts.

SEO Deep Dive

The second project on the agenda is a comprehensive exploration of Search Engine Optimization (SEO). While some of you may be SEO experts, I’m certainly due for a refresher course (especially after the recent Google changes). Between this blog and the Scout website, there’s a lot I could apply at the moment.

Get ready for posts that cover core SEO concepts such as keyword research, on-page optimization techniques, and link building. Hopefully we can all learn something together!

Invitation to Collaborate

Whether you’re a seasoned web developer or just starting your development journey, I invite you to follow along with these summer 2024 projects. I’ll be sharing all the resources, tools, and insights I learn along the way. Feel free to contribute to the discussion by posing questions in the comments and sharing your own experiences with SEO and web development – a collaborative learning environment is what I’m striving for!
